Nuwan Jaliyagoda

UoP Knowledge Portal is a platform where members of the University of Peradeniya can publish their research papers, project reports, and theses into a single searchable database; making work that previously existed only as hard copies accessible to readers both inside and outside the university.

Any member of the university can register on the portal through the content management system (CMS) we built and upload the PDF documents they wish to publish. The platform automatically extracts the text from each PDF and indexes it in the database, so documents can be found not only by their titles but by searching the full content of the documents themselves.

The public search engine is open to everyone and returns accurate, ranked results, surfacing the documents most relevant to the user’s query. More details are available on the project page, and the source code is on GitHub.
