3D Printer - CrafterV2

A multi-purpose CoreXY 3D Printer

3D Printer - CrafterV2

Crafter3D (also known as CrafterV2) is the second generation of my DIY 3D printer series and the direct successor to CrafterV1. While the original machine followed a conventional Cartesian layout, this build adopts the CoreXY motion architecture, the same mechanism used in many modern commercial 3D printers.

In a CoreXY system, both the X and Y stepper motors remain fixed to the frame and drive the print head through a pair of crossed timing belts. This significantly reduces the moving mass of the gantry, enabling higher print speeds and faster accelerations without sacrificing print quality, while the compact box-style frame improves overall rigidity.

Designed as a multi-purpose FDM platform, Crafter3D incorporated the lessons learned from building and operating CrafterV1, with improvements in frame construction, motion control, and reliability. The series later continued with CrafterV3, which expanded the build volume and material support even further.
